I was never a big Michael Jackson fan, and am proud to say I never purchased the Thriller Album – nor any of his other albums. But what I can say, is that he was a genius when it came to performing. His singing and dancing was one of a kind. He was an entertainer. I looked at my iTunes collection when I heard he died, and out of 2,300 songs I did find two Jackson Five songs. That’s not saying I didn’t like his music. I think it was just I didn’t like him as the man he was, let’s be honest – he creeped me out! Though, revisiting his music I can definitely appreciate that from him. Like John Lennon and Elvis I am positive Michael Jackson will live on in memory forever.

Susan Boyle takes the World by Storm 0
if you haven’t seen the performance of Susan Boyle you are missing out. She is 100% pure talent, no BS. Just very humble. With close to 16 million views on YouTube in the last 5 days, and over 84,000 comments. In my opinion she has already won. Forget the silly TV show, with just that one performance if she released a CD tomorrow I would buy it. What an incredible singing voice.

On a side note I have to give a shout out to the editors of Britains Got Talent, they really set the mood and made it up to a theatrical performance.
Here are some comments I saw that I agree with:
Like everyone else she stopped me in my tracks – I was all set to laugh or groan, but was left moved. She is an intelligent and thoughtful singer – there was nothing showy or ‘oversung’ about this performance, she stayed within her range, hit all her notes dead on, and gave a completely convincing, rather understated, performance. Do not judge a book by its cover! A great piece of television too, well edited, and the judges came up with just the right comments. – duncann
So incredibly moved by this woman. It just goes to show that the “INDUSTRY” is so messed up. This is what the gift of voice is all about… MOVING PEOPLE to FEEL EMOTION!!! You go Susan Boyle from a little village in England… you inspire me! – nataliemedia
just think of all the other hidden talents out there..i hope this gives ordinary people the confidence to live the dream..looks count for nothing be proud of who you are..true talent comes from within…very well done i loved it – shandygirluk
Susan’s pure talent has been shown and released on the world stage. She is a natural. Her confidence in herself with out the big ego is a rare but much appreciated gift she gave us. Thank you Susan and may you have a wonderful career in singing. You made many people cry and feel happy from the heart. Now how many people can do that with such humility? – airider2

I ran across this video blog entry of Zack Arias about the struggles most artist place upon themselves to strive to become something. I could relate so much to it that I copied the embed link code and pasted in here to share and for others to watch.

SmugMug 1
![]() |
I finally signed up for Smugmug and it the ultimate in photo sharing. Easily create online photo albums. Share, store, organize and print. The on-line store was one of the main things that really brought me to their service. You can upload your photos from Adobe Bridge, Aperture, and iPhoto. You can even upload your photos from your iPhone.

The other crucuial part I wanted was the ability to customize their site (smugmug) to almost camaflouge itself to look like it’s a part of your own, with a bit of coding of course. You can find most of what your looking for within the Digital Grin forum. As I looked the it for hours before I came up with my code. As for my code I will give my CSS code here so to you guys that understadn how to manipulate CSS. This will be a good starting point. FO course add in your own colors and text. This is exactly from their ‘customization Settings’ page: (Aug 2008)

I really do recommend Smugmug for any photographer or web developer that needs a gallery (specially if you need a shopping cart). You can save $5 off your subscription by simply entering my email address steven@larsoncreations.com or my personal coupon code ( F2ZMEGdSsHbxA ) in the ‘Referred by’ field on the signup form.
Good luck and happy shooting. Now here’s that code for the ‘customize page’:

Sunbeam Poem Projector 0
This was a really cool idea. I ran across a blog on it on Tumblr. The type is formed ( as you can see ) through a complex array of perforations aligned with the passing of the sun. The poem takes about 8hrs to sweep through the full text. Based around the solar calendar, winter and summer display different poems. Extremely clever.
Check out the timelapse video. It’s amazing. The site also has detailed descriptions and experimental video on light and shadows creating words.
