10% of Me

| For the past 6 months anyone who I have shown my work to has said ‘You should do a show.’ Now I understand the concept because I used to show my work at local sidewalk shows in Florida when I was like seventeen years old, but I want to show my work in a gallery here in Venice or Santa Monica. I know if I set my mind to it I really could put something together, more like a multi-media show having my photography and art up on the walls, my sculptures on pedestals in the gallery, and a big screen TV showing my editing/ compositing reel in front or back. I know I could make it look really amazing, and even have a title for the show. You know that old saying you only use 10% of your brain, well, I would call the show “10% of Me“. |
| But it would take a great deal of time and more important money to pull this off, and right now I really think I should get back in the zone of putting together that compositing reel to shop for a new job. The photo lab I am working for right now is taking a huge hit and we are incredibly slow. In fact this is the slowest I have ever seen that place in almost 11 years, and because I am now part-time I am not making any extra money – and you have to pay rent. Plus will the show sell my work is another question. |
| I love the idea of my own show, and am not brushing the idea off. I just need to give myself more time to create more sculptures and focus more on my digital video stuff right now. The rest will follow. |
