Friday Night Adventure

| Well, I have to say I mixed it up the last two nights. Staying out for one too many beers at Nikki’s Thursday night talking with Sheldon and Derek. Then after work today I met up with the popular talented Edizen from Venice Paparazzi at Nikki’s. Another one of her friends joined up with us (Kathy Leonardo, a promotional manager in Venice) as we finally got a table to eat. Edizen has always interested me because of her high energy and her unique talent to bring out the most interesting images of people. Her quick snap shots have an art of their own. I have always seen her around and admired her work, so it was neat to get a chance to sit down and finally chat with her. Moving here from Canada in 2000 armed as a boxer. She met and fell for her now husband Alex Stowell. Her passion for photography led her to diligently save up for her first digital SLR, a Canon D30, from there it’s just history. Venice Paparazzi is a simple concept that works. Edizen is always out trolling the streets of Venice and at public events. Her popularity has moved her up to shooting organized events and headshots on the side. Spending any kind of time with her you can almost see the wheels in her head turning with ideas. Then walk down any street in Venice with her, and you can definitely see the popularity she has. It’s easy to understand why, as she super friendly, delightful and charming. She says she does have a ‘down’ side, but I haven’t seen any evidence of that. As she seems very focused and unmistakably has the drive to push her ideas out. So here’s hoping that we can create a closer friendship, as I would really like to have a genuine creative person to challenge me. | ||

| After dinner another friend of Edizen, Sara and her neighbor, met up with us at Nikki’s. Where we then ended up wondering around Venice bar hopping, first to Hama Sushi, next the Brig on Abbot Kinney Blvd. Then rounding it out at the Canal Club which was nice because I have never been to most of those places. Of course none of these places have Bud Light – and if anyone has drank with me within the past 20 years knows that’s my staple drink of choice – so that sucked for me. But overall you can chalk it up as a Friday Night Adventure that I enjoyed. |
